Feeling Squirrelly

One interesting thing that we've noticed since moving to Rochester is the abundance of squirrels. Neither one of us has ever seen anything like it! These little guys are EVERYWHERE! They're not shy either.
They sit quite happily on the sill of our kitchen windows and check out the madness that occurs while I try to make lunch for the girls. They stare back at Isabelle while she tries to entertain them with her wide portfolio of silly faces. Have I mentioned...they're everywhere? On the fence, in the yard, on the windowsill, on the fire escape, in the garbage...everywhere.
We have four large city-issued garbage cans in the back...they all have holes chewed into the corner of the lid to allow for squirrel access. Huge cans. Thick plastic. Big squirrel-sized holes.
I'm tempted to call the city and ask for a new can so that I can set up a camcorder to document and witness the process as it happens! But I'm too lazy for that.
So I feed them instead. They're happy to get the leftovers, but honestly, they were going to get them anyway. They'd just use the squirrel door on can #1.
